Quote Challenge - Day 2 of 3

So the 3-day Quote Challenge was to be completed in 3 consecutive days, but then life happened, and as stated in the Day 1 Quote, it was not at all like what I had planned!

Oh alright then. I'll be honest. I can't really blame life this time. It was a miscalculation on my own part. I knew schools reopen in July, which means busy days at the store for me. Yet, I signed up for this challenge, over-estimating my own capabilities. Sighhhh! What can I say?

I guess I'll just plead guilty and get on with Day 2 of the Challenge! It's raining heavily here at the moment, so no customers until the downpour stops. Perfect time for me to update my blog... that is if the laptop battery doesn't die (In India, rains and power cuts are always part of a package deal.) and the internet keeps working ('coz 3G is dependent on weather conditions). Here's Day 2 then...

I've heard people say that "life is unidirectional". That is almost like saying that "You've entered a one-way lane, from where no left-turns or right-turns or U-turns lead out!" That sounds too bleak for my liking, so I don't completely agree with it.

Yes, life does move forward only, but, it never blocks those turns along your path. It never takes away your right of choice. You can choose to change the course of your life if you are not completely happy with the way it is at the moment. Or, you can choose to remain on the same course that leaves you feeling discontent or short-changed.

As Chico Xavier said... "Though nobody can go back and make a new beginning... anyone can start over and make a new ending."

It is not possible to undo your past (unless you have a car that travels through time), but you can always choose to create the future that you've dreamt about.

I think this is what "moving on" truly means... when you forgive yourself, for all your wrong choices in the past, so completely that you start believing you deserve a second chance in life... and then you stop living a compromise, a lie... and consciously start making choices that take you closer to your dream life.

That's when you start over... to make a new ending for your life. And I think it's only then that you truly really "move on".

Once again, thank you for tagging me, Princess! On Day 2, I pass this challenge on to Cat Graham, Maya, and Aditi.

This is one of my favourite quotes and I've had it as a signature on my email account for years. It's thanks to this, I managed to get back up around my late teens when I felt defeated. I never knew who it was attributed to though, so thanks for that! :)

I love the quote Chicky :) So true it is! It is better to start afresh and write a happy ending like we want than to brood over something we can hardly change

Her Fairy Tale

Yes, we have the choice to move ahead or stay where we are or take a different route. The choices are always there!!

Terrific quote, Chicky and so true. A good reminder that we can't change the past but we can direct the future to some extent.

Don't worry about getting sidetracked. Everyone has those unforseen things happen that disrupt plans. Glad you were able to update your blog while it was raining.

Thanks for tagging me for the quote challenge. Now I have to do my third post. Full speed ahead!

Absolutely correct, Princess!

I will get around to the last one in another couple of days hopefully! :P

You're welcome, Sanch! :)
It is worth having as your email signature. Everybody can do with a gentle reminder about this one, every once in a while.

Exactly, Swathi. Brooding does nothing. It just fills us with resentment and bitterness. It is better to change what we don't like.

Chicky said...

Thank you, Elly :)

Thanks Rachna :D

Harini, Goodreads is a good place to find out quotes. I often browse through it in my free time.

Chicky said...

Exactly, Shilpa, and when the choice is ours, it really doesn't give us the right to blame anyone else for our life.

Chicky said...

Yes, Cathy, and that is why we must never resign to our fate and give up, because we always have the power to change our future, even if we can't change our past and present.

I still have to do my third post too for this challenge! I hope I can complete it soon.
