Top 10 Annoying Bloggers

Every new idea, after it attains mass appeal, tends to gather some scum too along with the cream. And the blogging world is no different. A lot has been written about the “cream & scum” of blogging. In this post, I’m going to present this subject in a slightly different way, in that I’ll be listing 10 of the most annoying bloggers that I have personally come across.

  1. Black Holes.

Oh yes! These bloggers will ALWAYS continue to annoy me. Tell me something – have you ever seen a book with black paper & light text on it? No, right? Even photo albums are not black anymore! So what are these “black-themed” bloggers trying to prove to the world? Imagine getting your daily newspaper in black background with white text!

  2. Doggie Bloggers.

Dogs are color blind, and apparently, so are these bloggers! They will use any random color combination in their blog posts – pink, brown, green, cyan, fluorescent green – completely techno-colored! One single paragraph in their post would consist of like 3 different colors! And once you finish reading their blog/post, you continue to see bright flashes of light in your mind for several long minutes!

  3. Drown in Mush.

These bloggers have been mentioned every time such a list was made by anybody! Reading their blog feels like you’re watching the initial courting period of a new couple – ON REPEAT MODE! There’s so much mush in their blog – every single post of it – that it would put Mills & Boons to shame!

  4. Salesmen Bloggers.

This one is pretty obvious. These bloggers have more ads on their pages than content. Adsense in the sidebar, within the post, in the blog header, in the post footer, and another long adsense banner in the sidebar! You’ve got to bring a microscope with you to search for the actual content of their blog!

  5. Begging Politicians.

The latest trend! Spam everybody with vote appeals for your blog posts! Every time there is a contest on IndiBlogger, I start getting bulk messages in Facebook – everybody asking me to vote for their post – even people who have never bothered to visit my blog even once, forget about leaving any comment here!

  6. Link Spammers.

Alright, I confess. Since I’m not so much into active blog networking, this type of blogger spam was completely new to me! These people actually go to the extent of leaving the link of their latest blogposts on YOUR Facebook wall! And not just yours, but everyone in their Facebook friend list apparently! Now why would I like to share a link on MY Facebook wall that has absolutely no relevance to me!

  7. Regular Link Droppers.

These are the old-fashioned link spammers, the ones that have been talked about every now and then, in such annoying bloggers lists. They will copy any one line from your post, paste it in their comment on that post, and then simply add the link to their latest blogpost, which would obviously have no relevance to the subject matter of your post!

  8. SMS Bloggers.

They apparently have free text messaging service on their phones, and they probably use it for more than half of their waking life, because when they blog, they continue to type in the same SMS lingo - “i care 4 u, i long 4 u, ma eyes mssd ur smile, ma arms wnt 2 hold u…” blah blah blah! If you guys cannot take the time out to write proper English words, why would anyone bother spending time on reading your cryptic nonsense?

  9. Jack-of-All Bloggers.

These people are, I believe, not yet aware of the concept of “categories” in blog. As such, they end up creating half-a-dozen (or even more!) different blogs, one for each hobby they have. The worst part is that after a while, none of their blogs is updated regularly!

  10. The Mr./Miss Know-It-All Bloggers.

Recently, when I diversified my blog network, I got the opportunity to interact with several niche bloggers who apparently “blog for money”. And I noticed a marked sense of over-confidence in many of them. Some of them aren’t even aware of the very basics of SEO, like what is keyword stuffing, what are the advantages of guest blogging etc, and yet they are loaded with a massive superiority complex!

So, that brings us to the end of this list of top 10 most annoying bloggers. Obviously, there will be many more who can be nominated for this list. But from my perspective, these make the top 10. These types of bloggers are the major “turn-offs” for me personally.

This is my fourth post for NaBloPoMo November 2010.

Brave post Kaddu! All the time, I was thinking, where do i fit in? I think I don't.... huffff.... relaaaaax!!

I think, I am tempted to write comments in sms lingo at time, will be careful now!

Nice one! we love to read about blogging!

Dude, your list encompasses almost 90% of the blogs in one way or the other in the blog world !!!

Thanks a million for the post, it was really useful

Kaddu said...

@ Tang: Well I wasn't taking any specific names, but I guess the post title gave that impression. :p

Kaddu said...

@ Restless: Comments with a little bit of SMS lingo are okay. But it tends to become a strain on the mind if every other word in a sentence is cryptic. In the posts however, it purely reflects the non-seriousness of the blogger towards his/her blog. I wouldn't visit such a blog twice.

Kaddu said...

@ Mahesh: Na na... there are more decent bloggers buddy! :D In fact, I would say not more than 15-20% of the blogs I've come across make this list. And perhaps half of them are made up of bloggers falling under point nos. 1 & 5 only!

Wow.....nice post........I think I had some of these problems

Hmm I don't feature guest blogger posts much. Maybe I should start doing so? :P
I agree with the content of the entire post.

Hahaha! Pointing a finger is fun, we don't get 9 back at us! ;)

Ahhhhhhh I hoped you had NAMES on them ...
but yeah the 10 types you mentioned.. there is a lot of that going on and a lot of tensions and fights happening

Hopefully next time you can give the names of them so we know who to ignore :)

Kaddu said...

@ Samadrita: Glad you could relate with it. I haven't featured any guest posts here either till now. The only guest post on miss_teerious is a perfume review by my friend Akshay. And this guy doesn't even have his own blog! So I guess his post technically doesn't qualify in guest blogging! :p But it served as a sample post for my magazine, to give an idea of the kind of Author Bio that would be given to all the contributors.

i almost fall in the mushy bloggers category ehhehe

nice post

@ Sourav: Actually I don't think I have pointed fingers at anyone in this post. As so many people have mentioned, I have not taken any names. This is a general post categorizing the top 10 most annoying bloggers according to me personally.

Kaddu said...

@ Bikram: I'm afraid I don't really bother noticing such bloggers at a personal level. For me, they're "just another annoying blogger". People who write good content & provide a clean & healthy blogging experience are the ones that I notice on an individual level. If you want, I can give you the names of a few such bloggers! :p

Kaddu said...

@ Jeweliot: Aah! A confession! :D Thanks for appreciating the post regardless!
