New Rules of "The GAME"!

Once upon a time, relationships used to be simple and straightforward. Once upon a time, men and women were honest to each other about their feelings. Once upon a time, there was acceptance and understanding; there was caring and sharing.

Today, relationships are twisted and devious. Today, relationships are just feathers in your cap... the more the merrier... just a means to give a boost to your abnormally inflated ego. Today, there is only deceit and apathy.

Once upon a time, "I love you" meant a "promise"... a promise to always be there for you... a promise to always protect you and stand by you. Today, it's only a bunch of meaningless empty words.

I'm not very good at expressing feelings, but luckily, I found this girl in Bloggersville who is! And in her post "The Women who give the good ones a bad name", she says exactly what I would have said if I had been capable of putting my emotions into words.

. . .

Never say "I Love You" if you don't.

Seven years ago, I said the above to someone... and today, I repeat this... for anybody who might be reading this post.

. . .

Once upon a time, there was commitment and fidelity.

I wish I was born during that time!

P.S. - By "relationships", in this particular post, I don't mean any platonic relationships -- parent-child, siblings, friends, etc. I don't even mean casual sex partners. I'm only talking about "proper relationships" between man & woman (Or even man-man or woman-woman; I'm not biased against them you see!)... that start with a formal "proposal" and consist of some serious courtship, extending over a considerable period of time.

It still means the same to me. I still mean it every time i say that to my wife. Its more than a promise, its telling her to TRUST me. I will be there every time you need me.Just a murmur away....

Guess what.... ? Just been thinking over the 'new rules' before seeing this post from you.

Been trying really really hard to understand what actually does go around inside certain people's minds regarding relationships.

Your second paragraph just about sums it up. I think I'd better put a separate post on this.

By the way, it makes me feel really relieved at not having been anywhere even close to such territory... :)

If you ask me...all the values and virtues are still present in the current world. It just takes a lot of work and mehenat to search for the true love, which is lacking in todays world.
In a million years only there are few love stories that survive the test of time.:)

P.s. and hey, thanks for following, feels nice...:D

I used to collect a lot of random quotes and pics doing the rounds on emails earlier. This picture was created in photoshop using a part of that collection! :D

Kaddu said...

That was a brilliant quote dude! "For every Romeo... time gave us a Casanova..."
Loved it! Very well said!

don't be so 17th century...I love you is quite common and it can be used for broader sense...not every love needs the bed to accompany it... so don't make it all about commitments.. it can be said to show that u hold a position in the sayer's life...

Kaddu said...

My mistake. I did think of adding a P.S. in the post... to clarify what kind of "relationships" I meant exactly, but forgot in the end. Let me edit the post now.

It is true to a very large the priorities are diff,.goals are diff..but i still feel there are relationships which uphold the fidelity and trust..

Yupp, I do see some ancient couples still going strong... people from my age group (Read: 30+) mostly... including our ZB here! But for the majority, the once-held-sacred phrase is merely a part of a seduction ploy!

Yes, you are absolutely correct.

When one express Love, it should mean "Promise & Trust", otherwise it doesn't have any value.

This is my first visit to your blog here and I enjoyed reading your posts. Keep writing.

I'm following your blog now. Invite you to my page and leave your comments.

Kaddu said...

Thanks for the visit and the follow, Jarlin. I just checked out your website. It looks really neat. And you have written posts on some pretty informative topics too! Will be reading more of it... :D

That;s so sad right, that it's just a "game" now. one-upmanship, saying this to get that, doing so to expect such, and then when you get bored you just walk off.
Just a game.

And unfortunate are those victimes who get embittered by such experiences and doubt everyone else.

There "are" nice people there, but finding them is a task. They're almost always not the ones most visible, loud and charming in the conventional way in a large crowd.

Kaddu said...

Thanks for the visit pal! Love your nick name btw... reminds me of Dumbledore!

Yeah, it's become so much like a game... I'm always reminded of chess when it comes to modern "relationships".
