My Favorite Video Game As A Kid

I used to be crazy about video games as a kid. I had the Samurai TV Video game that had many different games. Naturally, there was the traditional Mario Brothers and Bricks, plus there were games like Legendary, Islander, Road Fighter, King Kong, Chess, and even Mahjong, which I didn't know how to play back then!

I also had several pocket video games. Among these, my most favorite was Oil Panic. This is what it looked like.

I liked Oil Panic most because it was a dual-screen game. Hence, double complication level. You had to keep an eye on two screens at the same time! Plus, this is one game that I have actually completed all the way through... right to the end. :D

I had no idea it was such a popular game until I did a Google search for it today, to find an image for this post. Frankly, I wasn't expecting to find a single image, but I found several! In fact, I even found a youtube video showing the game in action! Have a look...

So the top screen shows the inside of the second floor of the 2-storey building. The guy on the second floor can collect maximum 3 drops in his small container, which he then has to empty in the big drum carried by the guy on the first floor, making sure that he doesn't spill it instead on the people standing at the ground floor level.

I was addicted to this game like crazy. It was my favorite companion back then on train journeys. I had really mastered the art of watching both the screens simultaneously. Man! What concentration I had while playing this game! I feel amazed just by thinking about it now!

One of my cousins in Patna (an year elder to me) has actually managed to free the princess in Mario Brothers. He and I were competing for high scores on this game during one of my holidays at Patna. That's the historical occasion when I actually completed it!

Can you imagine my delight? I actually managed to beat a Mario Brothers princess-winner at a video game! Hahahahahaha! I was sooooo happy that day! :D

Oh boy! What days! What simple pleasures in life!

Did you play video games when you were a kid? Which one was your favorite? Have you ever managed to reach the end of a game?

VIDEO GAMES? I've never played one till date, even though I'm a geek and all!
I used to play those online games.. Barbie doll dress up and all.. And then I graduated to those management games: The ones in which you had to run a hotel and a business till it earned a certain given profit! I loved those games! :D

REALLY??? Oh you would have liked them, Mithila.

I tried that dress up game once when my cousin was here. She's a couple of decades younger than me, and she wanted me to teach her how to play computer games. So.

The only management games I have played are the Synga ones on Facebook... FarmVille, (made loads of money there), CafeWorld (it was profitable but too boring) and FishWorld or something (again too boring).

Which ones did you play?

I love video games. I am quite addicted to the ones on my phone and the cooking ones online. It is a wonder I get anything else done at all! :)

The only game, actually arcade game, I used to a bit years ago was PacMan. ;) Are you familiar with it? It seemed addictive and I wonder if such games including video games are addictive: I bet they all are! ;) Google 'Pacman" and you will see what I am talking about). :) <3

Yes, yes the same ones that you mentioned. Though these days I am not into them at all.

Oh! You're the kind of girl that my father would love to have as a daughter, Sulekkha! Unfortunately, both of his kids have turned out to be the worst game addicts imaginable! My sister is two steps ahead of me! At least you find it pleasurable to watch your son and hubby playing! My Dad gets super irritated the moment I open a game on the computer!

Hahaha! Kathy! I can so relate to this! I was exactly like this when I used to play FarmVille. It really was a wonder back then that I got anything done!

Of course, Elly! PacMan was there too in my TV video game. I never got a hang of it though. I totally sucked at it!
If you want to play it again, I have added it on my blog too... check out this link... Pacman

Sighhh! No time to play, Rachna? Same story here! :(

LOL! Nabanita, that doesn't make you boring... it just makes you sensible, as my Dad would say! :D
