Shiv Parivaar: Photo A Day - Family

Day 16 of "June Photo A Day Challenge" : Family

The family of Lord Shiva, in our building...

Lord Shiva is in the center, represented by the Shiva linga. Directly behind the Shiva linga is the idol of Mother Parvati, placed between their two sons - Ganesha (elephant-headed Lord of Beginnings) and Kartikeya (6-headed Lord of War). Lord Shiva's mount, Nandi the bull, is seated on the left of the picture.

This family was established in our building in July last year. That's when the above picture was taken by Dad.

This is my 16th post for 2013 June Photo A Day Challenge.

Yes Shilpa... the outerwork (walls etc.) is still being done. All through donations from residents! :D

@Swathi - Yes, though I haven't visited it yet. I'm not into idol worship at all! :P

@Jyothi - I have been wondering why they included only Lord Shiva's mount and nobody else's ???

That's really nice. I love little temples inside societies. We had a quaint one in the society of the rented place we lived in earlier, but in our society they are proposing to build one. Let's see. I remember in my uncle's place, they had a shivling shaped temple inside the township. It was kind of a landmark from outside.

A shiva ling shaped temple must have looked really cool. I've never seen one like that. Do you any pictures of the structure?
