KBL Sep 2011: 30 Days of Me!

Been looking for another 30-day blog challenge for some time now. (Ok, only for the last 10-15 days or so... 'coz prior to that, I was more-or-less on a sabbatical from blogging!) But, I wasn't getting hit by lightning.

Finally, I saw an interesting theme on Iggy's blog. This 30-day challenge has actually been created by PunkPolkaDots, who is, so far, an unacquainted blogger to me. I guess no point in getting acquainted with her NOW... as my blog is off the radar for all. But perhaps, if I ever decide to return to the "limelight" (as I probably will, sooner or later), I might drop by at her "place" and say "hello"...

In the meanwhile... here are the details of this 30-day blogging challenge...

"2011 Sep KBL: 30 Days of Me!"

Yeah... you guessed it -- it's kind of like a mammoth month-long tag! Well... tags are always good for getting rid of writers' blocks, aren't they? So here's what I need to write about myself in this 30-day theme:

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.
Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today.
Day 3 – Your idea of the perfect first date.
Day 4 – Your favorite photograph of your best friend.
Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.
Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.
Day 7 – Your dream wedding.
Day 8 – A song to match your mood.
Day 9 – A photo of the item you last purchased.
Day 10 – A photo of your favorite place to eat.
Day 11 – What’s in your makeup bag.
Day 12 – A photograph of the town you live in.
Day 13 – Your favorite musician and why?
Day 14 – A TV show you’re currently addicted to.
Day 15 – Something you don’t leave the house without.
Day 16 – Your celebrity crush.
Day 17 – A photo of you and your family.
Day 18 – Something you crave a lot.
Day 19 – Another picture of yourself.
Day 20 – The meaning behind your blog name.
Day 21 – A photo of something that makes you happy.
Day 22 – A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.
Day 23 – 15 facts about you.
Day 24 – A photo of something that means a lot to you.
Day 25 – What’s in your purse?
Day 26 – A photo of somewhere you’ve been to.
Day 27 – A picture of you last year and now and how you changed since then?
Day 28 – Your favorite movie.
Day 29 – Something you could never get tired of doing.
Day 30 – A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the past 30 days.

Officially, this daily blogging series can be started any day of the month, but, I'm going to start this from September 1st, i.e. as the September 2011 NaBloPoMo series. Ironically, the theme this month for NaBloPoMo is "Return". And this "30 Days of Me" challenge seems quite befitting there.

30 Days of Me = 30 Days of Introspection = 30 Days of "Return" of me!

So starting tomorrow, from the first of this list of all things ME...

UPDATE (October 2011) - I have edited this post to include links to all the 30 posts in this theme. So you can click on the topic now, to directly open the respective post.

Sister Does A 'Bella Swan'

Having spent the major part of last night tossing and turning (courtesy 'Power Failure' and 'Mosquitoes'), I finally drifted off to peaceful slumber in the wee hours of morning (when the 'Electricity Gods' finally decided to have mercy on me!), only to be abruptly woken up again by a nightmare! (Yes, another one of those!)

It was night (in my "nightmare"), and a violent thunderstorm was raging outside our house. My sister and I were preparing to crash into our beds, when, suddenly, I saw her going out to our terrace (i.e. the terrace of our house in the dream).

Looking out from the window, I saw some movement in the terrace. There was a figure -- a large monkey or something probably -- crouching in the shadows. As my sister became visible in the frame of the window, I saw the "figure" suddenly leap on her, and grabbing her in his hands, he jumped back, crossing the boundary wall easily in a single leap, my sister screaming in mid-air!

In the dream, I rushed out to the terrace with a loud "Nooooooooooo". In reality, I woke up trembling all over.

As I waited for my heart to stop its thunderous drumming, it suddenly dawned on me that the figure in the terrace looked more like a human than a monkey. But how could a human perform that sort of incredulous leap so effortlessly, with another fully grown human dangling from his hands, and land precisely beyond the boundary wall? No -- I convinced myself -- it must have been a monkey (... or a gorilla, or something similar, you know).

After about half-an-hour or so, with some hot tea inside my drowsy system, the "nightmare" having been "replayed" in my mind a dozen odd times or more, I was finally hit by an "alternate theory"!

And then my sister called.

I told her I had another nightmare today. She asked what it was this time. So I told her - "Tumko chhat se ek bandar utha ke le gaya..." (A monkey took you from our terrace and ran off.)

She repeated in disbelief - "Mere ko bandar utha ke le gaya?" (A monkey took off with me?)

She sounded like this was the craziest thing she'd ever heard in her entire life (which probably it was). So I reluctantly shared my "alternate theory" with her.

"Actually it looked more like a human, so it could have been a vampire instead of a monkey... I'm not sure..."

Her reply was spontaneous... and totally expected! "Agar Edward tha to koi baat nahin..." (If it was Edward, then no problem!)

Feeling something between amusement and exasperation, I told her I already knew she would say something like that. She broke out in sharp uncontrollable giggles!

P.S. - I'm sure most of my female readers are going to react in a similar fashion while going through this post... ("Wish it was Edward...", "Was it Edward?")

P.S. 2 - In fact, I can just hear them giggling too, as they read the above "P.S."!

P.S. 3 - Sighhhhhhhhhhh! Women!

Fruit & Nut!

Been absorbed in Linda Goodman's Star Signs lately. Remember my old post - "What's in a Name!"? I hinted at a prospective name change in that post. Well, that name change has finally taken place. After much deliberation, I have changed my name from "Kadambari Singhania" to "Chicky Kadambari".

Yes, yes... I know. Some of you are really observant and would have noticed that my old post mentioned "Chikki" and not "Chicky". Well I have changed the spelling of my former nickname, and adopted it as my official first name now. And my former first name has become my last name.

Why keep a first name as your surname? Haahhh! Apparently, your folks can live with you changing the name they gave you, but they cannot live with you adopting a last name from some different caste (or even a different gotra for that matter!) And the Singhal gotra of the Marwari clan doesn't give you too many choices of probable surnames. Eventually I decided to simply drop the caste/gotra qualifier from my name, and took a neutral surname.

I could have become "Kadambari Chicky", but then I realized that very few people actually use a person's last name when referring to him/her. So it wouldn't have made that much change in the vibrations.

Moreover, "Kadambari", reducing to a 9, is rendering a slightly over-aggressive touch to my personality, whereas "Chicky", giving a 6 (for Venus), adds a touch of the feminine to my nature. Therefore, making it more suitable as a more-used first name for me.

Overall, "Chicky Kadambari" gives me the Compound Number of 15, and the Single Number of 6 again. And I have already written about both 15 and 6 in my previous post (although in the context of a different name change possibility, which I didn't much like on second thoughts).

I must say though... I have been blessed with some real crazy friends! Giving me a shorter nickname of "Kaddu" did make sense when my first name was the gigantic "Kadambari". But, seeking permission to call me "Cheeku" now, when my first name is already a short and sweet nickname... now that's totally completely insanely weird!

Chill fellas! Even if I'm not a fruit anymore, I still remain deliciously edible though, don't I? After all, "Chicky" is also a food, right! Oh ok then, it ain't a food... "Chikki" is the food! But hey! It sounds equally sweet, don't it?

So I go from 'fruity' to 'nutty'!

P.S. - If you ask those who are really close to me, they'll tell you that 'nutty' is definitely more apt for me... in fact, 'nutty' IS 'me'!
