Broken Heart

"Noooo!" Shouted Richa, as she saw her 3-year old brother knock her science model off the table. She tried to make a grab for it, but was too late. It lay broken to bits on the floor at her feet.

Rishabh stood in the corner beside the table and watched the tears roll down his sister's face. He was only trying to get his box of crayons from the far edge of the table.

"Look what you've done now!" cried Richa again between tearful sobs. "You've totally runined it! I hate you! I HATE YOU!" And saying that, she stormed off into the balcony.

About fifteen minutes later, Rishabh stepped into the balcony too. "Sorry didi, I fix it... look!" He called out to her sister from the doorway of the balcony.

Richa turned around and saw him precariously balancing the remains of her science model in his tiny hands. He had apparently tried to put it back together... "fix it"... as best as he could.

Well it was nowhere even close to what it had been -- he was just a 3-year-old after all -- but his sincere efforts at making up for his mistake warmed her heart.

He might not have been able to mend his sister's broken science model, but he sure did manage to mend her broken heart. And that was all that mattered in the end.

Here's more in Fiction!
